Friday's Try A Bloggy Friend's Recipe - Week 2 Cherry Berry Cobbler

First, I want to send out a little BSI reminder. I would love see more Watermelon Recipes! Email them to me by Sunday night. :0)

It was a tough choice. Everyone had such terrific stuff going on at their blogs this week. I finally settled on the beautiful Cherry Cobbler at Eat At Home. You should go check out Tiffany's blog. She has so many excellent recipes and great money saving tips.

I don't think I have ever made a cobbler or if I have it has been so long I can't remember.

I tried to find the really great dark cherries at Trader Joe's for this but they only had the Cherry Berry Mix. That's okay, it's just as great.

I followed Tiffany's recipe almost exactly. The only change I made was to add 1/2 tsp vanilla and to use the Cherry Berry Mix .

Here is the recipe:
  • 2-2 1/2 cups Cherry Berry Mix
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
Set the oven to 375 degrees. Place your butter in a 9 inch baking pan and place in the oven to melt. In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and milk. Whisk until thoroughly blended. Pour over the butter.

Pour the berries over the top. If the berries have a lot of juice, use a slotted spoon. A little juice is fine. Place into the oven for 45 minutes until crust is browned and cooked through.

I had a little trouble because I took it out before my center was done. I had to put it back in. I covered it with foil and put it back in for another 15 minutes. It turned out great!

I will have to practice a little more with this. Believe me, it's worth the practice!

I love the color of the crust, don't you!

I found this Honey of an Ice Cream to put atop my cobbler. A big thanks to Tiffany for sharing her fantastically scrumptious recipe with all of us! :0)

I also wanted to show off my 1st ever attempt at making an apron. This was a skirt I spotted at a thrift store. I loved the fabric and thought it would made a perfect apron. It's double sided. The other side is checked like the pocket. I would never thought to have made an apron if it weren't for my buddy Julia @ The Apron Goddesses. Her blog has inspired me! Thanks Julia!

That cobbler looks delicious! Somehow I've never seen a cobbler made like that with the topping put in the pan first & then the berries presumably sinking during the cooking process. Learn something new everyday! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, thank you for the compliment! I am glad I have inspired someone out there to be crafty in new ways.

My only comment tonight..how can I only make one... is that you are once again set out on some evil plot to destroy me through wonderful deserts including honey ice cream.

Suzi made your enchilada bake and it was superb!! Just my kind of yummy. Thanks.

I will go crawl back in my cave now and chew on bark.
