Spring day at the Coast

We decided to take a little day trip yesterday.

It was a rare day on the Oregon Coast. The sun was actually shining.

We visited the aquarium and saw lots of cool fish and got to check out a very heavy diving suit.

This has always been my favorite area. I just love to take photos of these boats!

It was a bit windy down by the ocean but that just makes for better seaweed flying, right!

While we were off playing, I had Swedish Meatballs cooking away in the crock-pot to have for dinner when we arrived home. There was an accident as we were heading home and we had to turn around and drive 2 hours out of our way to get back. I was worried that the meatballs would be over-cooked, but they turned out great! Thank goodness I turned the crock-pot to low!!

Stay tuned for this yummy and very easy recipe!

~Happy Sunday to everyone!~

Extra-Extra Read All About It!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program for this important announcement! The boy has blown his first bubble! And now that he has gotten started we fear he may just deplete the city of it's gum supply. We strongly urge you to stock up on gum now before it's too late!

Pouting Entry - I Heart Faces- Week 12

Here is my entry for the I Heart Faces photo contest for week 12. The theme is, the pout. I know this is just a little pout but it's the only photo I could think of that would fit this theme. I think it turned out pretty cool! I really don't know what I am doing, but I sure am having fun doing it! :0)

Birthday Cupcakes

I know that I keep blabbing on about my birthday, but I just had to show you the adorable cupcakes that my sister-in-law made for me. They were pink with lemon filling. They were very yummy! In fact, I thought there might just be a family brawl over the last one of these! My son was breaking out his nun-chucks and everything! I have been thinking about getting in on this cupcake making craze but I don't know if I have the patience for the detailed frosting that goes into it sometimes. Speaking of detailed, have you seen the cupcake charms over at
All Things Cupcake right now? They look so real! It must have taken somebody a lot of patience to put those together! I can't do things like that for very long. It drives me nuts! It's the same with things like cross-stitch or working with seed beads. I am fairly certain that if I had to make seed bead necklaces for a living, I would end up being hauled off in a straight jacket and put in a pink room. Oh wait, I love pink! I wonder if I could get cupcakes there? :0)

My Birthday Gifts

Yesterday was my birthday and I am happy to announce that I am once again 29 years of age. It's the strangest thing! Anyway, first thing in the morning my kids ran into my room bearing gifts, hugs and kisses. Of course, the hugs and kisses were gift enough! The daisies and the vase are from my son and the rooster is from my daughter. Both of these gifts are right at the top of my Favorite Things list. Another gift of honorable mention is a big box of dark chocolates. We had to have a couple of those babies before breakfast! It was a fantastic birthday! I think I will have another one next year! :0)

A Load of Zoo-Doo

My father-in-law came to my house today with a load of Zoo-Doo. Have you heard of this? Apparently, it is great for your garden. My father-in-law says you have to have a connection at the zoo to get your hands on this stuff. (They won't give it out to just anyone.) Oh great, now I have to plant a garden! I would hate to think all that elephant, zebra and giraffe dung would go to waste. So, all I can say is, bring on the veggies! :)

That's What Friends Are For

This was the scene at my house today. My poor little buddy is sick in bed! Being surrounded by his friends made him feel just a bit better. Thank goodness true friends are there for us through the good, the bad, and the flu! Friends shown here are (from left to right) Brownie, Slushy, and Orange Kitty.

BTW, Brownie was my friend when I was little. It's fun to see my son enjoying her also. :)

Birthday Fun

I found this great idea on another blog. She called it picture tag. The idea is to go into your picture files and choose the sixth picture in the sixth file and write about it . Here is my pick. We are at my daughter's 12 birthday party. She insisted that she wanted to have lobster and Red Lobster for her birthday. My son is wearing this hilarious puppy face sleeping mask that he just had to buy. I'm not sure what my daughter is opening, but it looks pretty darn exciting!

Grandma Lucy

The picture of the rooster was made by my Grandma Lucy. It is a type of Japanese embroidery called Bunka . She created several of these pictures over the years. When I look at the pictures she made or the afghan she crocheted for me, I am reminded of our early morning talks. I have always been a light sleeper, so when I would hear her get up in the early morning hours I would tip-toe in to join her in the kitchen. She would make me a mug of warm milk and we would talk together quietly while the rest of the house slept. This is one of my favorite memories from childhood. I still enjoy a mug of warm milk, but now I like to add a little vanilla and some honey. Simply yummy!
