Turkey Burgers with Mozzerella Black Olives Basil and Fire Roasted Tomatoes

Don't forget to email me your BSI Watermelon recipes by this coming Sunday! ;0)

These were so yummy! I can't wait to have them again. They would be good with beef as well.

I didn't have any mozzerella when I thought of making these. I did have string cheese though. I have never tried to use string cheese this way but I figured it would work out just dandy.

Here is what went in:
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/3 cup chopped olives
  • 4 pieces of string cheese, slice
  • 1 tbsp chopped basil
  • 1-2 tbsp grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • black pepper
  • 15 oz can Fire-Roasted Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp chopped basil
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 8 pieces of sliced whole wheat sourdough bread

Mix the turkey, olives, garlic, basil, Parmesan, salt, and pepper together in a bowl. Place into the freezer for about 10-15 minutes.

Put your undrained tomatoes, 1 tsp basil and olive oil into a saucepan. Simmer while you make the burgers.

Form a thin patty and place on wax paper. Place slices of string cheese onto patty.

Form another thin patty and place over the top of the other patty. Pinch sides to seal. Place on either an outdoor or George Foreman Grill to cook.

Place burger on a slice of bread. Top with the Fire-Roasted Tomatoes and maybe add a little lettuce if your heart desires.

This was another easy recipe for a weeknight.

I love the idea of adding the string cheese into the burger...very nice, with all the great ingredients in it I am sure that the burger must be soooo tasty. I'll definitely try this recipe for a Summer BBQ. Thanks you! By the way, great pictures!

We had turkey burgers today on the BBQ but ours had greek olives and feta cheese and spices and they were so good. I will definitely give your recipe a try. Thanks for sharing.

I think turkey burgers and basil were meant for each other.

I love how the mozzerella is all melted in!

OH MY YUM YUM YUM. That looks great. I think your cheese inside is awesome. I will have to try that some time. And I totally recall when all I had was string cheese in the fridge and did not use it because of the "form" it was in. Big DUH on my part. Just slice into small pieces.

Awesome looking burgers. It's so cool that you used string cheese. I wouldn't have thought to use it too. I wish I had a turkey burger right now.

I love the idea of using the string cheese! That's great! My husband would fight me on the ground turkey, so I'd have to make his with beef... I'd love the healthier turkey option, though!
