orange poppyseed scones

IMG_1203
I have trouble keeping the edges of my scones pretty. I'm thinking my dough get too warm. Any thoughts? Well, despite the less than perfect edges, these tasted fantastic! I'm always thrilled when citrus season comes around. Oranges are terrific in so many recipes!

I found the recipe for these scones over at whatscookingamerica.net. The texture was wonderful and I loved the combination of orange and poppyseed. I added a little orange zest to my icing just for fun. These are perfect along side a nice cup of tea.

Speaking of tea, this website also has a lot of fun history and information on English High Tea and many other scone and bread recipes. Check it out if you have a few extra minutes. :)

Happy Friday, my friends!

I've never created a photogenic scone EVER so I have no words of wisdom to offer you. These look delicious to me though! I love lemon and poppyseed together but have never thought to add orange. Sounds good!

I'm a scone fan, so these would be perfect for me!

Yes - also love the poppyseed with the oranges. And grand idea to add the zest into the icing - it must be just a wee bit orange-centric intense. The scones look pretty good tome - I don't see any problem. It sure beats the dried-out stuff someplaces sell as'scones."

What a wonderfully flavorful treat. I've used the citrus poppy combination in other ways but this is the first time I've seen it used in scones. Sounds wonderful! I hope you have a great weekend. Blessings...Mary

Hi dear friend! I think that your scones look wonderful (as everyone has already said!) I adore poppyseeds, and nothing makes me happier than seeing backed goods with those pretty purple spots. Thank you so much for sharing. May your Sunday burst forth with joy and love.
