market day

DSC03977

Every other Saturday morning, I roll my weary body out bed and head to a local farmers market to work with Cathy, a fellow blogger friend of mine. She roasts the most amazing Bavarian Nuts right in her booth. They are are glazed with cinnamon and vanilla. They are sweet, crunchy and out of this world!

I love arriving a few minutes before the market opens. It's quiet, peaceful.

The smell of fresh cut flowers and kettlecorn

DSC07148

the sight of beautiful plump berries, juicy peaches and luscious heirloom tomatoes

DSC07093

the sound of bluegrass, jazz or folk music from local musicians...

DSC07144

I feel alive.

Others arrive early as well, eager to fill their baskets with edible treasures.

The bell rings at eight o'clock. The market is officially open for business.

Plates of hearty biscuits and gravy, fresh berry crepes, warm sweet scones and spicy breakfast burritos drift past.

Baskets are filled to overflowing with a bounty of goodness.

We blissfully carry our treasures home, day dreaming of the delectable tastes and textures that await.

Simple pleasures are the sweetest.

Terrific photos, Kim. The early morning is my favorite time at the market too. We had a very good day yesterday, not too busy until about 10:00 am, and then, holy cow, we were swamped.

Nice Kim! I know that feeling you described-it's so nice to feel that way in the early morning. Oh, and so neat that you have a booth at the Farmer's Market...!

Your photos are gorgeous, Kim! I feel like I could reach in and grab the beautiful produce. We are birds of a feather, I could happily spend all day at the farmer's market too! :)

I know what you mean. The farmers' market makes me feel alive too. it definitely must feel so peaceful and rejuvenating first thing before everyone else gets there. Love all your pictures.

I love your description of early mornings at the market. I am not fortunate to have a large market near me, but we do have a few fruit/vegetable stands.

I too love getting out and about in the early mornings. You would be amazed at what you could see if you lived in the country where I live.

Your photos look beautiful and make me wish I was there!

how cool! it's nice to go to the farmer's market to get some fresh veggies and fruit. then you can get back to your kitchen and be creative with them. but i always encourage ppl to start a garden-even a small one-because it's just so convenient and rewarding!

Sounds so good! I need to find a good farmers market around here. We have some produce stands around town that I have bought some vegetables from. I bet your farmers market has all sorts of wonderful food! How cool that you get to work there!
