Not your mother's meatballs

Believe it or not I have not been in the mood to make dinner for about a week now. Okay, okay, get up off the floor! I don't quite know what is wrong with me. I'm not hungry at dinner time. Nothing sounds good. I'm uninspired. It's so sad! Does this happen to anyone else?

When I get to feeling this way I just start pulling things out of the cupboard and fridge until something hits me.

I had a jar of minced ginger that I picked up at the store the other day and I had a pound of ground turkey sitting in the meat drawer.... It all began to come together... a bit of ginger... a dash of teriyaki sauce... a little garlic... One thing led to another and before I knew it I was knee deep (This is making me think of frogs! ;D) in a recipe for Turkey Teriyaki Meatballs!

Turkey Teriyaki Meatballs
by theUngourmet

1 lb of ground turkey
1/2 tsp minced ginger
1 tsp minced garlic
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1 tbsp chopped parsley (I used dried, fresh would be nicer!)
2 tbsp of Chinese stir fry sauce
1 tbsp teriyaki sauce

Mix ingredients and form into 12 meatballs. In a large skillet, brown on all sides in a bit of oil. Move to a lightly oiled baking pan. Pour 1/2 cup of teriyaki sauce over meatballs, cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes until completely cooked through.

Serve with brown rice and steamed veggies for a nutritious and delicious meal.

Oh yeah, throw a few splashes of that hot chili sauce over the top of it all for an extra kick!

Have a fabulous and inspiring weekend! I'm hoping to get a cupcake recipe together for Iron Cupcake! Stay Tuned...

Yum!! Turkey meatballs. I want spaghetti all of the sudden. lol.

I've had that happen to me many many many many times. When I feel uninspired I grab a bowl of cereal instead. I really do.

Nice meatball recipe, love the teriyaki seasoning in there. I get uninspired, then Ill take a break for a week or 5 days, blogging, not cooking, sometimes that helps.

I think it's the weather being so blah :( I've not been inspired by anything and have had trouble making my grocery list the past few weeks.

That's something I would eat in a heartbeat. Teriyaki anything plus sesame seeds = total yum! ♥

What a great flavor combo!! Where would I find minced ginger? In the Asian food aisle?

Soup and grilled cheese often happens when I'm uninspired! Then, I dig to the bottom of my stack of Taste of Home or Simple & Delicious magazines and try to find something that sounds interesting at the moment!

You know ground turkey lost its place in my kitchen years ago when the mother-in-law burned me out feeding the kiddos, but now this has me thinking it might be time for a comeback!

Oh how I wish I could find ground turkey here in Japan. These look wonderful. I'll have to settle for trying this with chicken.

This is definitely one inspiring meal! I've always got ground turkey on hand, and more often than not I'm wondering what new I recipe I can use it in. Thanks for the inspiration!

When I feel uninspired, we end up getting take out. When I'm inspired, we can't possibly eat all the food and baked goods I make!

The turkey meatballs look delicious!

These look really good! And yes, the cooking ennui happens to me fairly regularly. It's quite annoying and usually results in a large number of burger/panini nights.

But hey, a girl can't always have her A game on, right?

I love your interpretation on meatballs! I make them every two weeks or so therefore I need to mix up the recipe with the likes you have shown!

We're still struggling with sick... DONT GET SICK!!! I'M WARNING YOU!!! ;)

There's writer's cramp so I think there's cooking cramp (andI do not mean cooking that gives cramps either!). I visit blogs, read my cookbooks, eat cream of wheat in the meantime, really.

These meatballs look and sound dee-lish!!
