I realized after I posted this that today is only Thursday! I am probably the only person that has ever done this!
I am trying something new on my blog. I have decided to make Fridays my Try a Bloggy Friend's Recipe Day! For my first week I decided to try and make the Cold Sesame Noodles I found on Cinnamon Spice and Everything Nice. I have been dying to make this ever since I saw it! You should go visit Reeni's blog! It's overflowing with yummy recipes and terrific photos! Love the new look over there too!!
My husband is more of a meat and potatoes kind of guy. He has informed me on several occasions the he just does not like pasta. So, I made everyone else in the family soft tacos and I made the Sesame Noodles Just For Me! :0)
I didn't have the exact same ingredients that Reeni's recipe called for so I worked with what I had.
- Kosher salt
- 1 lb of Spaghetti noodles
- 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
- 3 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
- 3 tbsp rice vinegar
- 3 tbsp reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp red chili sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 6 tbsp water
- Toasted sesame seeds and chopped cilantro for garnish
Place the ginger, garlic, brown sugar, peanut butter, rice vinegar, soy sauce, chili sauce, sesame oil, and water into a blender or food processor and blend until smoother. Place in fridge for 30 minutes. Toss with noodles. Garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds.
This recipe was terrific. I can't wait to make it again. Thanks Reeni for the great recipe!

Great idea!! Yours turned out great. The hubby doesn't know what he's missing with a great dish like that.
Mmm... looks way good and i bet it was awesome too!
This looks wondeful. What a shame that you're the only one in your family who likes the dish. Ah, well. Lot's of great lunches.
I am loving this dish - your husband missed out!
Fun idea about dedicating a day to try a bloggy friend's recipe. Kind of turns those "somedays" to "how about today."
The noodles look great. I've only had this dish in restaurants. It's a perfect one to recreate at home. YUM
Same story at my house....no pasta
only lasagne.
I will cook two things lots...I get tired of meat and potatoes.
I bookmarked this one too, and yours looks just as mouthwatering! This is a fun idea, Friday's Try a Bloggy Friend. It would give me an excuse to finally make the hundreds of blog recipes I have waiting!
Looks absolutely wonderful!
This looks absolutely delicious and I love your Friday try a bloggie friend idea. How fun!
Your so sweet! Thanks for trying out my recipe, and I'm glad you liked it. Wow! Hubby doesn't like pasta? That's a tough one, I don't think I've ever know anyone who felt that way. More for you, I guess! Love your new idea-and it feels like Friday to me, too!
Yummmmmmm. I think it sounds amazing!
Nice choice! These Sesame Noodles sound really delicious. They make a great side dish for summer. I'm sure I'll be trying it soon too.
Oooh...That does sound absolutely delicious! Can't wait to see what else you find!
I totally wanted to try these, too...they sound awesome :)
mmmm..looks good.
Yum!!! This looks and sounds delicious. And good for you for making it for yourself to try even if the rest of the family wasn't up for it. It sounds like you took very good care of them though with the tacos.
My husband is always iffy about recipes that include peanut butter but he saw this and immediately said that we "had" to try it! :) Tasty and easy are two of my favorite qualities food. :D
love sesame noodles...and my kids would flip for it! i think i would have to add some chicken on the side or something for my "i need protein" girl!
Hey Kim,
These are definitely on my "try" list. Are our husbands friends? My husband tells me the exact same thing about pasta. "Gin, I would rather have a steak." You should have seen his face when I served whole wheat pasta!! It was priceless.
I like your idea of dedicating one day to trying out other bloggers recipes.
My problem is sligtly opposite from yours, my husband suffers if he doesn't eat pasta every day (well, he's Italian).
Good for you, eating what you want despite your family's preferences! I don't know if maybe the original called for it, but soba noodles would be perfect here.
Yum! I made something really similar last night, peanut butter noodles. It was delicious :)
I love cold sesame noodles! My favorite quick pasta dish!
I do a "Taste Testing Tuesday"! Kind of busy these days though. Time to get back to it!!! This recipe looks great!!!
