Steak with Bleu Cheese and Garlic Malt Vinegar Mashed Potatoes

My husband is such a carnivore! We rarely buy steak because, well, as we all know this economy stinks and we are all trying to tighten our belts and eat a little more ground beef or even meatless meals a little more to save money. I decided to splurge this week and make my hard workin' man a big, fat, juicy steak with bleu cheese crumbles! I put the steak in a marinade of the following ingredients and let it sit in the fridge all day.
  • 3/4 cup red wine
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
I cooked the steak on the indoor grill around 10-12 minutes on each side for a medium steak. (I would have rather put it on the bbq but I am out of propane right now!)

This is what you need for the mashed taters.

  • 4-5 large potatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp malt vinegar
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (a little more if needed)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
Cut potatoes into 1 inch pieces and throw into a large pot with your garlic cloves. Cover with water and boil until tender. Drain. Mash the potatoes and garlic. Add your butter, vinegar, milk, salt and pepper. Stir vigorously until well blended. (I don't usually peel my potatoes, but you can if you prefer.)

The flavor of the steak, bleu cheese, and potatoes come together really well.
Mmm. Melt in your mouth goodness!

~Enjoy~

If you make one of my recipes, I would love to hear how it turned out.

Wow, this looks like something my hubby would love. Maybe someday I will break down and try to cook something new.
