Who says you can't put broccoli into a burger? I say do whatever the heck you please. Throw whatever combination of ingredients you like into your burger! I don't know why I hadn't thought of this before now. I'm always trying to fit more veggies into our day and this is an easy way to get one more serving in.
You could really throw in a combination of veggies like carrots cauliflower and broccoli. Maybe some greens like kale or spinach. Go crazy! The more veggies the better. Roasted broccoli and cauliflower would also add terrific flavor. I think I'll try that next time.
broccoli cheddar bacon turkey burgers
by theUngourmet
1 lb ground turkey
4 slices of turkey bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
2/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup fresh or frozen chopped broccoli (if frozen, allow to thaw partially)
1 cup grated sharp cheddar
1 egg
2 tsp dried chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
1 tbsp dried parsley
salt and pepper to taste
Combine all ingredients. Shape into patties. Grill, broil or pan fry.
Serve on your choice of bun and garnish as desired.
I served these burgers with a side of baked sweet potato fries. I sliced the sweet potatoes fairly thin, tossed with olive oil, kosher salt, cracked pepper and parsley. I spread them out in a single later on a well oiled baking sheet and baked at 425 until slightly browned, about 25 minutes, turning once half way through the baking time.

Wow this sound super tasty! I love that you sneaked in a little broccoli...yum!
These turkey burgers are so similar to my very first food post! I made mine with shredded zucchini and they are delish. I like the idea of changing it up and adding different veggies. And I like the addition of your turkey bacon.
Seems like a good way to hide veggies from the kids.

I'm on a big time burger kick and I have to tell you that I love this idea. This version with the broccoli and cheese sounds great and I bet the broccoli helps to keep the turkey moist too. Looks great!
Given how much my parents eat burgers...this is actually an ingenious way to get them to eat their veggies! Love it.

Broccoli in a burger. Now that's a new one to me. Then again you can have your veggies and your meat at the same time, so it's like a two for one kind of thing. :)
Yum, Kim! I used to be a turkey burger feign. In fact, both me and my Cauldron Boy were. He ate them everyday for lunch for an entire year during law school. I stopped that though-don't worry. Anyway, point is, this looks good (smile)!
Great idea to add broccoli to your burger!!!
