This past Saturday I had the pleasure of working again with Cathy at a local farmer's market. I always make sure to do a bit of shopping while I'm there. While meandering through rows of tomatoes, green beans, squash, peppers, potatoes, greens, broccoli, brussel sprouts, basil, artisan breads, beer, wine... I spotted of couple of goodies I hadn't seen before.
These cuties were labeled Asian eggplant. Aren't they the cutest?! I think I'll probably roast these with a little olive oil, kosher salt and cracked pepper.
I ran across a couple of little girls eating these lovely apples and just had to go on a hunt for them.
Isn't the color spectacular! These are called Pink Pearls. They're a tart apple so I think they'll be great for baking.
Did you hit your local market this weekend? What did you find that you couldn't live without?

oh dear..that colour of apple...how sweet!
The eggplants are so baby-size and fun!
Aren't those simply lovely!
I must admit that I sometimes am loving the Kettle Corn more than the fresh stuff. But DON'T TELL!!! I am bigger than you and I'll track you down and duct tape you to a tree if you tell my kids. ;)
Those look so awesome. I over-slept & missed the market!
Mimi
Ohhhhh, I wish I have, but I was working today.
Your finds are the loveliest things I've seen a while.
Those eggplants definitely look adorable! And I've never heard of pink pearl apples, but they look gorgeous. I was away this weekend and missed my farmers market, but I did get some farm-fresh eggs up in VT.
Merhabalar, bugün bloglardan seçmelerde lezzet adasının saç kavurması tarifi yayınlandı.(http://gencalsabahattin.blogspot.com/)
Sizinde her pazartesi yayınlamasını istediğiniz yemek tariflerinizi beklerim.
Saygılarımla.
Since I belong to a CSA, I really don't hit the farmer's market, I already have more veggies then I know what to do with. But I do miss market browsing.
I bought some eggplants that look just like yours! And some honeycrisp apples...a serious favorite of mine. Go farmer's markets!
The coloring alone is amazing. What are you going to make with those lovelies?
Jo
Aren't these beautiful, the eggplants?
Hey if you get the chance could (somebody) please stop by and help me identify some mysterious greens I just bought at an Asian food mart?
I'm gonna be so embarrassed if they turn out to be some kind of fancy spinach, but I don't think that's what they are. I'd just like to be able to put a name on them.
Hey Kim, my Mom grew some of those little eggplants you found-so pretty they are! And the apples are neat too. It's nice how a real farmer's market has out of the ordinary foods...
Oh, and I would tell you about some great bounty we have going on down here, but it wouldn't be true (smile). Well, we have a lot of avocados right now;)
I tried one of those pink pearls last week, and I woke Ryan up because I was so surprised and tickled pink by the color! I'm glad that you were able to enjoy one too!
Wow those eggplants. Are they for real?? I am in awe! Compeltely in awe, great finds for sure Kim :) xo
Looks like you scored! I love the inside of that apple!
oh those apples look great!!
Wow, I've never seen apples like that! Lovely. I've actually been terrible about getting to the farmers markets this season...
Aren't they such a gorgeous hue? Makes me want to go out and buy some more purple!
The pink pearls are lovely! I'll be on the lookout for them!
What fun finds! I'd especially love to try the apples.
This is a reminder that I need to get to the market before it closes for the season. Love those gorgeously hued apples!!
