Recently, I had the opportunity to help make a large batch of out of this world good granola. 680 pounds of it, to be exact. Ira, the chef and owner of White Pine Products asked if I was interested in helping with the process. I always love trying new things so I just had to say yes! What a fun experience! I've never seen so much granola in my life!
Ira gave me a box full of White Pine goodies to try including several varieties of granola.
They are all fantastic! The flavor and texture is so fresh and delicious. Sometimes when I purchase other brands of granola they seem chewy and a bit stale but this White Pine Granola has a wonderful crunch and all of the ingredients taste so fresh. Each flavor is so terrific, it's difficult to choose a favorite!
Here is a shot of me pouring honey into a pot. This part was a good workout!
After the honey mixture has simmered on the stove for a bit, Chef Ira pours it over the other ingredients and then bakes it in the oven.
The granola cools on racks before the raisins are added.
Making granola is hard work! Just look at all of that granola goodness!
White Pine also makes a wonderful Muesli cereal.
I had an opportunity to try some of the baking mixes as well. My kids and I love the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Pancake Mix.
I love that there are whole oats in the mix. Ira suggests putting some sliced bananas over the top. I happened to have some lovely strawberries from Saturday market so I sliced them up as well. Delicious!
There are several varieties of nuts including, Candied Pecans, Maple Spice Hazelnuts (organic) and Amaretto Vanilla Almonds. We couldn't keep our paws out of these!
Now, here are a couple of products I really love! Vanilla Sugar and Pure Vanilla extract. Both are made from organic vanilla beans and completely delicious. These are so aromatic, they just about make me swoon! ;)
White Pine Products are produced locally and distributed in various retail stores throughout Portland, Eugene, Ashland, Seattle and Klamath Falls. You can also order online through the website. Hop on over and check it out!

Kim that looks like an amazing experience. I love seeing how things are made on large scale. I bet the smell of toasted oats was just wonderful. I toast oats to make scones and the warm nutty smell fills the house. MMMMMM Good!! Thanks for sharing this one.
I've never seen such large bags of granola! What a fun way to spend a day :)
WOW that was a lot of granola! What fun! I've never heard of White Pine Products so I'll have to keep my eyes open for it now. That vanilla sugar and all those flavored nuts and the granola yumm my favorite.

Looks just like the bakery! I do 6 trays' worth at a time. And we add dried cranberries once it cools.
What a great experience!
What a fun day! I'd like to try it all, but those amaretto almonds are calling my name:)
As we are absolutely nowhere close to Oregon, I will be checking out White Pine online. But what unusual mixes they offer! Vanilla sugar?? Sounds like a Mason jar full of heaven to me!
And what a fun experience! You can now cross "make 6 tons of granola" off of your bucket list!

Wow that must have been quite the undertaking! It looks delicious!
That is a LOT of granola. Whoa!
That is a lot of granola.
I LOVE granola. I love them with milk or just a simple bar. I would love to try making them fresh but I don't think I'd make 600 pounds. LOL!
This is exactly the kind of outing I would enjoy. The pics were wonderful.
I saw the label 'candied pecans'...ohhh I want some ;o)
Fresh granola is the very best.
Thanks for sharing all this.
Ciao for now and flavourful wishes,
Claudia
Hey Kim, this granola sounds wonderful. I make my own, as I recently realized how easy it is. But I will keep this brand in mind for busy weeks.
p.s. I used to have to hold a big pot of clarified butter like that almost every day when I worked in a French restaurant. The chef would whisk the Bearnaise sauce while I held the heavy pot-it is a work out!
Wow!!! How interesting! I'm sure it was a great learning experience too. I never really think about all the work (and the people!)that go into a bowl of granola, but I guess it is a whole process :)
Great photo...wow that is a lot of granola :)
This is such a healthy way to enjoy homemade granola. Looks so good!
now thats one whole heck of a lot of granola....I'm impressed....I have been meaning to make some and yours looks great!
That's what I call making granola
I have been searching for a granola recipe that fits a lot of my quirky desires and this one seems to be IT. Thanks so much!
