Spicy cornbread pudding with black eyed peas for the new year

I thought I'd better fit some of those lucky black eyed peas into my day to help ring in the new year! I just love the look of dried beans don't you? I'd like to decorate my house with them. Seriously!

It was a quiet New Year's Eve over our way. My husband got called out to work, my daughter was at an all night youth group celebration, and my son finally zonked out around ten-thirty despite the fireworks and yelling coming from the youngsters next door. I rang in the New Year with a bit of the bubbly, watching some girl grabbing at her privates and singing off key on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year (a real class act!). I wonder just what Mr. Clark thinks of today's "talent"?

Sometimes I wish for a time machine. I'd like to be blasted back to the forties or fifties for New Year's Eve.

This corn bread pudding recipe turned out really nicely. Moist and flavorful with a bit of heat.

I threw in some black eyed peas, creamed corn, and Rotel tomatoes, along with some other goodies.

Then served it warm with a nice helping of salad greens.

I just found out that Debby at A Feast For the Eyes had her blog content stolen. I have no idea if this has happened to me or not but I am thinking of linking my recipes instead of posting them here. What do you think?

Here's to 2010!! May your new year be filled with peace, love, good health, lots of laughter and fun! Thank you so much for visiting my blog in 2009! XO

This cornbread looks terrific with the addition of black eyed peas. I heard about Debby's content getting stolen. It's unfortunate. You should do whatever makes feels best for your blog. I don't think it's such a big deal to link your recipes to another blog. Happy new year!

I heard that someone had done some sort of crotch grabbing on Dick Clark's Rockin NYE show. How. Incredibly. Classy. I missed all of it. But did have some eggnog pancakes this morning. Still trying to use the last of it! Happy New Year's! And FYI: you're the 2nd blogger I've read about this week who's had content stolen. That makes me crazy. I say, protect yourself and you're fabulous recipes however you see fit. We'll find you - wherever you are! (that sounded stalkish, didn't it??)

Happy New Year Kim!

You have totally outdone yourself with this blog post. First of all, the photos are incredible (REALLY GOOD!) Second, that is such an unique recipe. I can't wait to try it. Last, you have to tell me what it means to have your content stolen? What happen? Have a wonderful Saturday!

I would absolutely adore some of that cornbread pudding. It would basically combine two of my favorite dishes.

Happy New Year to you Kim! It's been awesome reading all of your delicious posts this year...hope for many more!

I hate that we live in a world in which blog content is stolen. Don't people have anything better to do with their time? Or can't they just take some initiative and write their own blogs. Sheesh.

I hate that people are passing off other people's blogs as their own. I don't know if it has happened to me but that is why I put my name on all my pics.
Delicious cornbread - Happy New Year to you!

The pudding looks awesome! And the black-eyed peas always remind me of my Southern Gramma Rhetta. Oh, I miss her.

Happy New Year! I just love your blog!

And yeah, what Katy said--how did someone steal your content? What can you do? Assholery!!

You're not from the south by any chance are you? We just served black eye peas and collards at the Lions club yesterday to ring in the new year. I'm glad someone else know what lucky good food is :)

We had black-eyed peas as usual too. I like the idea of cornbread with them. I too wonder what Dick Clark thinks of todays talent. Would be interesting to know his answer.

Hope you have a happy and healthy new year.

Your cornbread puding looks simply grand - it rocks! Happy 2010!

Actually, a lot of blog content gets stolen. Because I often adapt from other recipes or link to those I do not adapt - and am not planning a cookbook - it's not a huge concern - but it is very easy to do. You might want to google your blog once in a while to see where you turn up. I do that for all of my plays.

I am a new explorer of your site. I think that it is wonderful! I think that it is sad that you rang in the New Year alone but I also think that some times I would love to be alone. I think that the corn bread looks wonderful. As for the content I am not sure how you can stop it but I believe that you can send a cease and desist notice where if your content is not removed you can take legal action. I am not sure if linking will help.

Oh, I don't know what linking your recipes means, but this is now the second time in a week I've read about someone's blog post being stolen!! What is up with people?? You should do something because what if you want to write a cookbook or something some day?? You take care and happy new year to you too ~ ♥

cornbread pudding...now that sounds really good.
I don't know if I've had content stolen or not but I have had photos stolen and been told that if they show up in google images that they are "public domain" which is a bunch of BS...there is a law against it. Let me know if you're interested. Me personally...my blog is for pleasure and I don't have the time to "police" it. But it is irritating.
With that all said ....Happy New Year! LOL

YUMMALICIOUS! What a great way to have those lucky black eyed peas for New Years! I will serve this at my New Years brunch next year! Thanks for sharing!

Happy New Year Kim!!!

Your cornbread looks amazing and I bet it tastes even better. :)

I think my husband might like it but with the kids might abandon ship...

On the content being stolen, I think you can get your stuff stolen no matter how hard you try to protect it. So basically if you dont want anyone to steal it you can't post. Sadly....

Cornbread Pudding - what a great idea for New Year's! I had to watch that Dick Clark thing too. It doesn't seem like New Year's Eve without him but it can be a bit disturbing.

Happy New Year!
