Mushroom Swiss and Basil Turkey Burgers

This was tonight's dinner. I know I've said it before but I want to tell you again. I Love Mushrooms! (Sorry, Whispering Writer, I think you told me you hated them.) Speaking of the Whispering Writer, you should go and visit her blog. Her blog is hysterical! I can't help but laugh out loud every time I read her posts. They are a real knee-slapper!

Here is what went into these scrumptious burgers:
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup loosely chopped mushrooms
  • 1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp Country Bob's Sauce
  • 1 tbsp chopped basil
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • swiss cheese slices
  • buns
  • lettuce and tomato, if desired

Toss all of your ingredients into a bowl and combine well. Place into the freezer for about 15 minutes (I got this great idea from Heidi. It makes the meat hold together better.) Shape into patties and grill until done. Place the swiss cheese on immediately to melt.

Build your burger. Zip-Zap you are done. Now, eat up!

That sounds so yummy. I too love mushrooms! Especially portobellos pan fried in butter. (yes... I love to make them as unhealthy as I can!) I may just have to try this with the basil I am growing. MMMMM! Thanks for the idea!

The burgers look divine! and so easy to make! I bet they would go great with a nice Sauv. Blanc.

Thanks for stopping by and joining my blog! Maybe we can do a "joint" post...a virtual meal!-you provide the food and I provide the drink!

Great looking burger and my husband loves swiss cheese on his. I'd have to hide the fact I used the turkey though, or he wouldn't try it. Maybe someday....or is it too late to teach a old dog new tricks?

We love mushrooms too - they taste so meaty with a lot less calories and fat than meat. Again, great burger.

So glad you tried the freezer trick for your burgers. I am a big mushroom fan too and these look great. I need to grill more turkey burgers. I haven't grilled them once this summer.

I wonder if country Bobs sauce is a local item? I have to see if we have it. Wonder what it is equivalent to in taste? You amazing photo of your burger makes me want to bite the screen:)
