Tex-Mex Burgers

Grab your napkins kids cause your gonna need 'em!

I found a recipe similar to this one in People Magazine's Country Special addition.I knew this would be right up my husband's alley. I added in the black beans. I couldn't find any ripe avocados so I cheated a bit with the Trader Joes Guacamole.

Here is what you need for these drippy, sloppy, juicy burgers:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup black beans
  • 1 4oz can of diced green chilies
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • guacamole
  • jack cheese
  • tomato
  • leaf lettuce
  • Buns

Place your beef, chilies, beans, cilantro, garlic and spices into a bowl and mix well.

Form into 1/4 lb patties. (The Plain Jane patty is for my son.)

Place onto a medium grill and cook to desired temperature. Turning occasionally.

Top burgers with jack cheese, tomato, lettuce and guacamole. If I were you I would have a fork handy just in case!

I also wanted to say a big thank you to Teresa for this lovely blog award! Go and visit Teresa's blog! She has a fabulous Potato Salad recipe on there right now! Don't miss it!

I would like to pass this on to a fairly new and wonderful blog I have discovered. It's called A Joyful Chaos. She is an outstanding writer. I always look forward to reading about her lovely memories from childhood.

There's nothing like a homemade burger on a hot summer day! Mmm...I can just imagine the smell wafting off of the grill. This is making me hungry!

I just usually serve the plain burgers, but this one sounds like something my family would really like. Thanks!

I think your first commenter had it correct when she wrote, Oh My God! That picture of the hamburger is outrageous, Kim. Tell me, when you are going to start working for Sunset or Bon Appetite as a food photographer? :)
