Missouri Cookies

I not sure where my mom got this recipe or where the name comes from, but I can tell you these are very yummy and very easy to make. We used to eat them a lot when I was a kid.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 tbsp baking cocoa
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 2 1/2 cups oatmeal
  • wax paper
First, mix the sugar and cocoa together in a small bowl. Next, take out a saucepan and put your milk and butter in it. Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat. Add your vanilla, peanut butter, oatmeal, cocoa and sugar mixture. Stir really well. Drop by tsp. onto cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Chill in the fridge until firm. Enjoy! If you want to spice things up a bit you can add a 1/2 tsp cinnamon and a pinch of chili powder. Then, maybe they could be renamed Missouri Mexican Chocolate Cookies. Maybe not. :)
