So today I got down to business and organized my daughter's room. Well, everything except the closet. That is an entire days job in itself! She is such a little gatherer. I swear that girl saves everything. Apparently, even candy wrappers hold some kind of sentimental value for her.
After several hours of separating piles for Goodwill, recycling, garbage, and Can't Bear To Part With we finally have everything looking pretty darn good. I promised to paint her bedroom purple so that is on the agenda just after closet organizing.
I finished up just in time for dinner. This recipe came together in my head over the course of the day. It came out really well and everyone loved it except my son who isn't too keen on anything but cheese quesadillas, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and chicken nuggets right now.

Combine all but the final three ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well. Place onto a foil lined cookie sheet or broiler pan. Press into a 10x6 patty. (It should be about 1/2 inch in thickness.)
Brush the 2 tbsp of tomato sauce over meat and sprinkle the 1/4 cup of cheese.
Place into a 375 degree oven for about 30 minutes.
During the last 10 minutes of cooking time, throw your bread into the oven too to crisp it up a bit.
Cut it in 1/2 and place the meat on top. You may have to cut it down to size slightly.
Put the top piece of bread onto the meat and cut into 6-8 equal burgers.
You can add sliced tomato, peppericinis, lettuce or anything else you fancy. My husband suggested putting pepperoni slices on the burger before cooking and I think that is just a smashing idea!
These were really fun! I can't wait to make them again. You should try them too. I think you'll like them!

it looks both fun and delicious!
What a brilliant idea!
I was the same way as you daughter when I was younger. But I was more into little trinkets and paper rather than candy wrappers.
Neat idea with those sandwiches. Definitely an easy meal after a long day of organizing.
Oh wow you are so clever!
xoxo
Great idea, they sound delicious!
What a wonderful sandwich! You're so awesome throwing together ingredients to make such delicious meals. Good luck cleaning the closet! I hope you don't find any spiders lurking inside. :-P
What a terrific idea! These look amazing! I'm thinking this could be a FUN party food! Have even more pizza toppings for everyone to create their own finished burger... hm, ideas, ideas! :-)
I like it!
Oooh...that sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing! You are so creative my friend!
That looks really, really good. I've eaten some yogurt with honey for breakfast, but I'm gonna have to find something more to eat. You're making me hungry.
These look great! I'm going to try them asap.
This is a winner, Kim. Sliders for a group, and so easy to prepare. Ciabatta bread is a perfect choice.
Great idea, very delicious sandwiches!
Mmmmm...I have most of those things in my house right now. Including the messy daughter's room and a closet that could swallow me up if I opened it...
Wow, brilliant idea! I love the idea of adding pepperoni too. By the way, all the time I find candy wrappers tacked onto the walls in my 6-year old nieces bedroom! ;)
That cooked meat with the melted cheese and herbs looks amazing - I love how this recipe goes together!
Your daughter sounds remarkably like me when I was younger...or...really just at all. Although now when I save stuff it's "Don't throw that away it's for a craft project!" ;)
We won't talk about my closet. Good luck with the painting!
You are a genius! I never would have thought to do that! AWESOME!
These really look great and what a clever idea to boot. I'll bet everyone enjoyed them.

What a novel idea! I like this :)
And I was playing with A&E this weekend and what did I find in their room? Bubblegum wrappers!

Ok the mushrooms were a hit!! Just wait till I show up with these!! Hopefully it will take away the pain of being a Cincinnati Bengals fan??? These are really unique and a perfect way to celebrate the start of football season. Of course, thanks for sharing.

That looks incredible. But mostly you make me feel better by admitting you have a picky eater too.

Another delicious recipe that my picky 13 year old might even like! I'm going to have to give it a try...

I LOVE THIS! What a great way to feed a crowd, or my husband lol!
Your son HAS to like this! Anything in a sandwich works great for kids like that... I used to be one :)

Wow that looks fabulous! It's making me very hungry even though I just got done with lunch...
That looks really yummy and easy to make. I usually have those ingredients on hand too! thanks for the idea.
I also have a daughter who needs her room cleaned and organized and painted purple.
wow, look at that! I have to go through the same painful process (un-cluttering, that is) at my house (even with no kids there's ton of clutter). I will reward myself at the end of the process with this delicious meal! Thanks!
Looks great! Wonderful family fare. I like to cook this kind of food for my youngest son. My other son *still* only eats peanut butter sandwiches and chicken nuggets. And he is 18 now!
I added your button to my rogues gallery.
I just finished dinner, saw this, and immediately wanted some! Oh, my. Looks mouth watering good!
I love this idea! They look delicious!
I have a little pack rat too. I have to organize her room about every 2 weeks!
Momma!! Those are an act of beauty in burger! I think I could do some of those with ease. It would fit right in with my limited culinary expertise.
I remember my little sister running after my mom crying, "Those are my friends!" when my mom tried to throw away some old, broken board game boxes. (She kept the games in plastic containers, but for some reason, my sister was really attached to those boxes!) Anyways... this looks like a delicious meal - as usual!
Ohhh Kim, I think I love you. Well, I know I love your site. It's so pretty and everything looks fantastic and delicious! Wonderful.
This looks amazing!
